We present the HGST Ultrastar 7K2 internal hard drive in pcpromaroc. Data centers face increasing pressures to store more with budgets ranging from flat to reduced. Keeping operating systems as long as possible to maximize investments can be an effective part of the strategy, but support for these legacy applications becomes even more challenging as drive technologies move to next-generation formats and interfaces. Ultrastar 7K2 has a SATA interface of 6 Gb / s and a native sector size of 512 bytes (512n) to provide consistent high performance and compatibility with applications inherited from the data center. The improved RAFF ™ technology in the 7K2 includes sophisticated electronic components to monitor the disk and correct real-time linear and rotational vibration disturbances, especially useful in multi-unit arrays and rack-mounted systems while maintaining high read / write performance. Designed to handle workloads of up to 550 TB per year.
